I remember ..way back when MaryLou and I were in Nursing together.My maiden name was O'Brien. We studied for all our exams together. Marylou was very much in Love with her Leo .When we were on evening shift together on Men's Ward we used to hide extra linen in the many cubbies for our patient care as there was always a shortage on shift.MaryLou's focus was always her family and her boys a forever delight.

So many fond memories....I remember a golf trip the four of us took in 1983 to Myrtle Beach. Mary Lou and I were sitting in the back seat. I was doing a petit point and Mary Lou had just taken up tatting. Bryan and Leo, in the front were planning and talking golf...We had a great time. We didn't stop laughing the whole trip. Leo missed almost all of the exit signs and had to double back (no surprise if you have driven in a car with him). We had to stop repeatedly for snacks and sweets....again no surprise. On the way back we had to make frequent stops as Mary Lou was not feeling well...nauseous. Couldn't understand why....well, Tyler was the reason...she was expecting.

On one visit to us in Guelph, Mary Lou and I went shopping in Toronto and bought identical outfits which we paraded in front of the guys on our return all the while in hysterics at our purchase.

When our sons, Brett and Glenn were young, Leo demonstrated scuba diving in his pool and patiently taught them the necessary techniques....they still remember that to this day.

There are many more memories and we are focuing on those happy moments as we try to get through this tragedy.

I remember when I was 6 years old and he gifted me a bright little wagen for Christmas and when I went to use it in the spring, I had no one to pull me in the wagen.

Leo offered to pull me around the block, even though he was late for work.

He helped all of the family, many friends and even strangers he had never met before (repeatedly).

His heart was bigger than his golf swing !

Dear Leigh, Tyler and Family. Our sincere condolences on the tragic passing of Leo and Mary Lou. This is a huge loss for our community. Leo always spoke highly of his two boys and he beamed with pride as I am sure Mary Lou shared these emotions as well. Your Mom had great faith and had your Dad as her largest supporter. He was honourable and dedicated to your Mom and the two of you along with your families. His dedication to his clients was immeasurable. Our family knows this first hand. He was one of the most humble men we knew and treated everyone with respect. He and his beloved Mary Lou will be missed beyond words.
