Obituary for René Adelard Pilon

René Adelard Pilon
Surrounded by the love of his children and grandchildren, he went to meet his saviour on Tuesday, September 27, 2016, at the age of 90 years. Loving husband of 71 years to Juliette (née Tremblay) Pilon. Loving father of Rita Dickie (Ian) of Ottawa, Michel Pilon (Mary Oosterholt-Pilon) of Ottawa, Lise Anderson (Jack) of Sudbury and Marc Pilon (Doris) of Sudbury. Predeceased by his daughter Hélène Topp (late Robert) and by his son Robert Pilon (Judy). Cherished grandfather of Renée Kerr (Mathew), Sean Dickie (Adele), Adrien Pilon (Amy), Andrew Pilon (Veronica), Rebecca Anderson, John Anderson, Patrick Pilon (Kayla), Christel Pilon (Michel), Daniel Topp (Tracy), Ann Topp (Kristian), Sarah Pittard (Chris), Stephanie Pilon, Lianne Pilon, and great-grandfather of Tristan, Ashely, Julia, Isabelle, Carter, Cora, William, Charlotte, Tommy and Sawyer. Will be greatly missed by Julie and Gerry Gallagher and their family. Special pepére to Jamie Gallagher (Cathy), Sandie Martin (Bailey) and their children Jacob, Emma, Jerrick, Jaden and Maddix. Will also be greatly missed by Ginette Morrison. Dear brother of Doralice Carroll of Sudbury. Predeceased by his brothers and sisters Emilianna Seguin (late Frank), Germaine Dumont (late Oscar), Delphine Byrnes (late Thomas), Agnès Lamarche (late Damien), Raymond Pilon (late Edna), Jeanne Dumont (late Joseph), Étienne Pilon (Hélène of Espanola), and Fernand Pilon (late Rita). René worked at Falconbridge for 35 years before retiring at the young age of 54. He was then able to continue his adventure of travel, and enjoy more time “at the camp” where he gardened and fished to his heart’s content. Farewell to a charming man, who had a positive outlook on life, always joyful and ready with a huge smile and hug, who lit up every room he entered. Even when faced with his own mortality, he seemed unfazed. Always ready with a joke or two, or a few kind words, even at the end. We will miss him dearly. Heaven smiled as it welcomed its newest angel. The family will receive relatives and friends at the COOPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, 222 Lasalle Blvd, Sudbury, Friday, September 30, 2016 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Ste-Anne-des-Pins, Sudbury. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Northern Cancer Foundation can be made by cheque or online at www.cooperativefuneralhome.ca.
