Surrounded by the love of her children, mom went to meet her Saviour on Wednesday, February 8th, 2017 at the age of 93. Loving wife of 71 years to René Pilon (predeceased), loving mother of Rita Dickie (Ian), Michel Pilon (Mary Oosterholt-Pilon), Lise Anderson (Jack) and Marc Pilon (Doris). Predeceased by her daughter Hélène Topp (late Robert) and her son Robert Pilon (Judi). Cherished memère of Renée Kerr (Matthew), Sean Dickie (Adèle), Adrien Pilon (Amy), Andrew Pilon (Veronica), Rebecca and John Anderson, Patrick Pilon (Kayla), Christel Pilon (Michel), Daniel Topp (Tracy), Ann Topp (Kristian), Sarah Pittard (Chris), Stephanie and Liane Pilon. Great grandmother to Tristan, Ashley, Julia, Isabelle, Carter, Cora, Tommy, Will, Charlie and Sawyer. Dear sister of Gilberte Dupuis (late Adrien), Lucille Bertrand (late Hervé), Onésime (Jeaninne), Jacqueline Doucet (Léo), predeceased by her brother Emmanuel. Mom will be greatly missed by Ginette Morrison, Julie and Gerry Gallagher, Jamie Gallagher (Cathy), Sandie Martin (Bailey) and their children.

Mom was a teacher with the French Catholic School Board of Sudbury. She started her career in a one-room classroom at Lake Vermillion School where she taught children from grade 1 to grade 8 before she met and married the love of her life René.

Mom received her BA in Education from Laurentian University in 1976 and became Principal of École Cure Séguin in Larchwood shortly after. She also enjoyed a position as a music consultant in the Wawa region, McFarlane and Noëlville.

When mom retired she stayed very active with the Teacher’s Association as President (1983-85) as well as sitting on the Board of Directors for Laurentian Hospital. Member of the Senior Club at Ste-Anne-des-Pins: “Conseil Consultatif du compte retraite du 3e âge``: member of the National Diabetes Strategy: and member for the Committee for the Annual Senior`s Game of Ontario from 1997-2002.

Mom and Dad cherished their time at the cottage in Gowganda and the friendships that surrounded them. Mom loved to play cards, Scrabble, and Bingo with her many friends and family.

Mom also loved to travel and had the opportunity to travel to Europe, Algeria, Morocco, Spain, Hawaii, Alaska and most of Canada with her beloved René. Mom loved a party and was always ready to celebrate. She opened her home to everyone and was happiest when surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren

Today we say goodbye to our matriarch, our mom and our memère. You were a pillar of strength for all of us and you loved us unconditionally. We will miss you dearly and you will forever remain in our hearts. Heaven gained its newest angel and you are now at peace.

Those who love us never really leave us.

The family will receive friends at the Co-Operative Funeral home Thursday, February 16th from 2 pm – 4:30 pm and 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Mass will be celebrated Friday, February 17th at 10:30 am at Ste Anne des Pins followed by the burial. In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Northern Cancer Foundation.
